Event: Holy Mass
Date: Wednesday 7 October 2020
Time: 18:30
Venue: St Theresa Convent and Sanctuary Church, Birkirkara
The United Nations Organisation declares the first October of every year, as the International Day of Older Persons. On this special day the lives of those who came before us and who strove hard to set the foundations of our communities, are celebrated. The COVID-19 pandemic, has brought about hardships for everyone, and in particular for older persons within our communities. Many older persons have been lost prematurely to COVID-19, whilst many others are conquering this challenge day after day in silence. Some however are suffering unprecedented, emotional turmoil and loneliness within their homes, community as well as residential care settings, separated from their loved ones.
The Department of Gerontology and Dementia Studies within the Faculty for Social Wellbeing, together with their alumni, is organising Holy Mass in remembrance of older persons and the challenges that they are facing, and to celebrate the lives of those who passed.
Holy Mass will be celebrated on the 7 October, 18:30, at the St Theresa Convent and Sanctuary Church, Birkirkara.
To this effect, we cordially invite the family members of older persons who passed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to forward names of their deceased loved ones by email or by phone on +356 2340 2237.
These will be forwarded to the celebrating priest, who will offer Mass for their repose.
