Invited speaker: Justyna Ataman
In this webinar, you will get a chance to talk with Justyna Ataman, an artist, facilitator and activist undertaking creative and educational projects. She will share her experiences of volunteering in Cyprus, and she will tell you about her art projects.
Justyna's motivation steams from the perception of inequality as well as trust in an educational, intercultural and community-building value of creativity. She worked across disciplines of visual arts, performance, theatre and dance within non-formal education, grassroots initiatives, community organisations and art spaces. She has graduated with Ba(hons) Fine Art degree in 2013 at Glasgow School of Art, UK.
Following on, between 2013- 2017 she has been a founding member of Art Shed Collective, Edinburgh, producing participatory arts and performance programme during Fringe Festival; a managing committee member of a contemporary artist-run space-Market Gallery, Glasgow; a community artist delivering workshops for children and adults within Glasgow East Arts Company. In 2017 she coordinated environmental arts programme and other creative projects of the Dance Gate Nicosia.
Since 2018 she has been a co-founder of We Circle Collective in Agora Project, Nicosia, where she has been producing intercultural events and diverse workshops, co- facilitating Feminist Discussion and Action group, coordinating Women's Cooperative and facilitating Performance group focused on socio-political issues. Additionally, as a coordinating member of Arte Migrante she co-organised intercultural gatherings and Migrants Day events.
