A talk entitled "Sport Parent: A lived experience" by Dr Ivan Riolo is going to be held on Monday 12 April 2021 via Zoom. 

This talk will focus on a personal sport experience. The talk will uncover moments in an athlete’s life which had a major impact on the way these experiences later on translated into sport parenting skills and reflections.

One may argue that Sport Parents who have experienced competitive sport at different levels and who carry a bagful of sporting experiences would have an advantage when it comes to parenting their own siblings. Although these experiences can be helpful and informative, without some level of reflection, adaptation and education these could be detrimental and counterproductive across parenting.

By sharing a personal sport experience story, the speaker will focus on moments across his sport journey and discuss how these informed his decisions during his sport parenting years.
