Event: CineXjenza – Radioactive
Date: 15 February 2022
Time: 19:00-21:30
Venue: Spazju Kreattiv Cinema, St James Cavalier, Valletta
This month’s CineXjenza shall be dedicated to all Women in STEM. CineXjenza is a series of film events organised to encourage the practice of science among citizens
Countless women have fought for their voices to be heard to get to where we are nowadays, providing endless opportunities for females in STEM. In honour of such brave women, S-Cubed in Collaboration with the Malta Chamber of Scientists, STEAM and Spazju Kreattiv will be screening “Radioactive” as part of CineXjenza.
Marie Curie, a two-time Nobel Prize Winner, overcomes sexism in the 1900s, and in doing so, stumbles upon a new element known as Radium. Her discovery eventually leads to the Theory
of Radioactivity contributing to advances in instrumentation, medicine, and energy production. A short 30 minute discussion with the aim of encouraging women in science will be held after the screening. For this event, we welcome Dr Fiona Sammut from the Department of Statistics and Ms Sandrine Borg, a former student at the Faculty of Science. One, especially females, should make use of this opportunity to inquire about career opportunities in STEM.
Please register for the event on the Spazju Kreattiv website.
