Prof. Seán Patrick Donlan (BA, JD, PhD) is presently visiting the Faculty of Laws. He'll present a lecture - It is a precious codex. There is no other like it.: concepts of law in time and space - tomorrow in the Arts Lecture Theatre (ALT) from 16:00 - 18:00.
A frequent visitor to Malta in the past, Dr Donlan is a specialist in comparative law and legal history, especially mixed legal traditions, as well as on legal theory and Irish history. A native of Louisiana's mixed system, he's held academic positions in Ireland, Vanuatu, and Canada. Among other works, including articles on Malta, Dr Donlan co-edited The law's many bodies: studies in legal hybridity and jurisdictional complexity, c1600-1900 (2015), A study of mixed legal systems: endangered, entrenched, or blended (2014), and Concepts of law: comparative, jurisprudential, and social science perspectives (2014).
