Industrial heritage consists of the remains of industrial culture which are of historical, technological, social, architectural or scientific value. These remains consist of buildings and machinery, workshops, mills and factories, mines and sites for processing and refining, warehouses and stores, places where energy is generated, transmitted and used, transport and all its infrastructure, as well as places used for social activities related to industry such as housing, religious worship or education. A National Conference entitled A Future for Industrial Heritage in Malta is being organised by the Industrial Heritage Platform, University of Malta and held under the auspices of His Excellency the President of Malta.
The Conference will be held on 24 January 2023 at the Antoine De Paule Hall, San Anton Palace in H’Attard.
The goal of the conference is to explore current challenges in Industrial heritage conservation, preservation in situ and adaptive reuse in Malta. The Conference shall bring together different entities and experts on Industrial Heritage in the Maltese Islands to explore future strategies towards a better understanding, appreciation and valorisation of industrial heritage machinery and buildings.
Only registered delegates can participate. Registrations must be received by not later than the end of day on Sunday 15 January 2023.
