Navigating the storm: Road to recovery from depression
For people suffering from depression, it is often hard for them to clearly communicate what is going on inside. How can depression, which is more than just ‘feeling sad’ be described using only language of everyday conversations? On Thursday 16 March 2023 at 19:00, Studio B (Music room) in Spazju Kreattiv Valletta, the Malta Café Scientifique presents an evening with Prof. Josianne Scerri and Ms Amy Bonnici. They will talk about their study to gain insight into the lived experience of individuals’ road to recovery from depression.
In this study they present the use of artmaking and metaphors by patients recovering from depression as a means of expressing their experiences. The evening will tell the story of the journey from depression back to a world with colour, energy and hope.
Join Prof. Scerri and Ms Bonnici’s talk to gain insight on the experiences of people having depression and explore with them a different angle on understanding mental illnesses. This will be followed by a short discussion with the audience.
Malta Café Scientifique would like to thank STEAM Project, Spazju Kreattiv for hosting this event, the University of Malta and the Malta Chamber of Scientists (of which MCS is a part).
