The Department of International Relations and the Department of Tourism Management will be hosting a guest lecture by Prof Magdalena Nowak on “Religion and the Russian Aggression on Ukraine”. The lecture will take place on Thursday 13 February at 16:00 in CHBO213. Prof Novak’s talk will focus on the main religions in Ukraine (Greek-Catholic, Orthodox), and will discuss their historical background and today's situation in the context of Russian - Ukrainian war.

Dr Magdalena Nowak is Associate Professor and the Chair of Division of History of Eastern Europe at the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk, Poland. In 2023 she was the Louie Brown Scholar at the Valdosta State University, USA. She is the author of 55 scholarly publications. Her research interests are Polish-Ukrainian relations in the 19th and 20th centuries; national integration and religion; biography of Andrei Sheptytsky (1865–1944).
