The International conference on Ethics at the workplace calls for spiritual standing is organised by the Pastoral Care Commission for Health Caregivers in collaboration with the University of Malta’s Faculty of Health Sciences on the 29th – 30th March 2016. It will be held in the South Auditorium, Mater Dei Hospital.
The aim of the conference is to raise awareness on the significance of the ethical code of conduct and impact of spirituality in illness and health care. It also aims to help health caregivers reflect on their care, whilst enabling them to deliver holistic care in a multi-disciplinary team approach. Prior to the opening of the conference, Holy Mass will be celebrated by H.G. Mons Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna for the repose of the souls of health caregivers who passed away.
Professor Angela Xuereb, Dean, Faculty for Health Sciences will welcome the conference participants whilst H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, will deliver the opening speech. The involvement of a family who experienced hospital care will give a picture of reality. Diverse renowned local and international speakers will be presenting papers and posters on various ethical and spiritual aspects in care. A video-clip of seven case scenarios under the direction by Mr Eric Grech will draw the health caregivers’ attention to the importance of professional care. The conference will include musical interludes showing the talents of the health caregivers. The presence of Destiny, the winner of the Junior Eurovision 2015, singing ‘Not my soul’ will be the highlight of the musical programme.
Foreign health care professionals coming from Norway, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom, Wales and other countries will be joining the Maltese participants at this conference.
