The Institute for Tourism, Travel and Culture at the University of Malta is organising a lecture and public debate entitled 'Managing tourism in historic towns'. The event will be held on Thursday 3 March at the ICT Auditorium, Faculty of ICT at 18:15.
The lecture will be delivered by Dr Simon Curtis, University of Westminster. Dr Curtis will talk about the Management of a Historic Destination – Rochester/ Chatham. The lecture will be followed by a debate with the participation of representatives of various Maltese organisations/agencies responsible for management of historic towns.
The event will end with an informal networking session and drinks.

Dr Simon Curtis is an academic at the University of Westminster as well as a destination manager/ consultant with 20 years experience. He has particular interest and expertise in tourism development/planning and heritage/cultural destination management. He worked in cultural and tourism planning and economic development at the national, regional and unitary authority levels in the UK. In academia, Dr Curtis’ main research interests are related to destination strategy, place regeneration, heritage attractions and festivals. He teaches on a number of modules at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. His teaching combines rich flavour from his 20 years of practical experience at the front line of destination management with a commitment to original interpretation based on rigorous evidence, data and practice.
