Attitudes and Perceptions of the Public and Scientists towards Projects that Foreground popular engagement with Science - The Case of Malta’s Café Scientifique

Abstract
This presentation will discuss the perceptions and attitudes of the Maltese public and scientists towards Malta’s Café Scientifique, a programme that is meant to engage the public with science. Adopting a mixed-method approach, the presentation will report on the results that emerge from a questionnaire-based survey administered to participants and from interviews conducted with scientists. Direct feedback was also collected from the audience, after the event.
Bio-note
Danielle M Farrugia is a science and physics teacher who is currently teaching physics at Mosta Girls Secondary School. She is a B.Ed graduate in science with specialisation in physics. She also holds an MSc with distinction in science and society.
