The Department of EU & Comparative Law of the Faculty of Laws, in collaboration with AMSDE, ELSA and GĦSL, is organising a half-day Jean Monnet Conference on ‘Multilingualism and EU Legal Translation’. The event will be held at the University of Malta Valletta Campus on Friday 17 March from 13:00 to 17:00.
The conference is a follow up of a Jean Monnet project bearing the same name. The keynote speaker will be The President Emeritus Dr Ugo Mifsud Bonnici who played a key role in the translation of the acquis communautaire into Maltese. Other speakers will be representatives from the European Commission and the Council of the Maltese Language. This will be followed by two specialised break-out sessions where some of the research undertaken under this project will be presented. The key themes are the role of legal translation at the Court of Justice of the European Union and the role of Maltese in EU law.
