Thirty-five students from five different universities, namely Warwick (UK), Manchester (UK), Utrecht (NL), Olomouc (CZ), Malta, will be at the University of Malta Gozo Campus from 2 to 12 May to follow the Go Go Gozo course. The students attending the course come from various disciplines: digital, geography, media studies, geographic information systems and games studies.
The aim of this course is to bring together students from different disciplines, through blended mobility, to develop novel, digital, mobile and map-based research methods and skills. The course also aims to assess the potential of playful, experiential and participatory learning in this context as well as to provide a course structure that facilitates interdisciplinary and multinational encounters in the real world beyond university.
During the two-week Go Go Gozo course the students will have the opportunity to create a number of artefacts which will be displayed at an exhibition open to the public on Thursday 11 May May from 14:00 to 17:00. The exhibits will include maps of various locations in Gozo which will be presented in a fun way. Mapping methodologies will include a technique called kite-mapping which consists of aerial photography through the use of kites. Maps that document the soundscape and the smellscape of Gozo will also be on display during this exhibition.
