Evenings on Campus was one of the very first festivals in Malta which started to give space to different forms of contemporary culture through its representations of visual and performing arts. Evenings on Campus has become a regular and appreciated addition to Malta’s summer cultural life. Now in its 25th edition, this year, Evenings on Campus will be held from Sunday 23 July to Friday 11 August.
Tikka Alegria will be held on 2 August at 21:00 in Atriju Vassalli (Main Quadrangle), University of Malta Msida Campus.

Tikka Banda, founded by musician Justin Formosa and some friends in 2013 is, as its name implies, a band with a rather small formation. It is made up from traditional Maltese elements which are normally found in traditional band marches.
Alegria Dance Company is Malta's only professional dance company specialising in Flamenco dance. Established since 2009 under the direction of Ingrid Sciberras, Alegria has performed locally and overseas in Art Festivals, Theatre Productions, Charity Events and private functions.
Tikka Banda's objective is to keep the Maltese Festa alive throughout the year by offering different presentations of music through its small formation. In the past months, Tikka Banda continued to evolve and with the participation of 10 musicians and 4 choreographers, it is succeeding in displaying Maltese and International Music in a contemporary and interactive spectacle. At the same time, Alegria has recently been working on some experimental work fusing the gypsy art form with various traditional Maltese folk music and traditions.
In ‘Tikka Alegria’, Alegria will be working alongside Tikka Banda accompanying these talented musicians to some traditional band marches synonymous with our popular summer village festas. With choreography by Estelle Bonello Sant, Alegria’s Dancers together with the band musicians will be transforming the University Quadrangle to a local village feast.
