About the theme
‘Ottoman MALTA’ is a digital arts multi-media exhibition which seeks to re-create an alternative turn of events wherein the outcome of the Great Siege of 1565 resulted in a victory for the Ottomans. Through a short film, the project aims to show what the ‘new’ capital city would look like under the Ottomans, by making use of digital tools such as 3D modelling and animation.
Other media relating to the theme will also be on display. These include a 3D printed model of St. John’s co-Cathedral, as well as framed visuals of the same model in its digital form. Another physical model will be that of the topographical landscape of Mount Sceberras in its rural state. Lastly, the decisions and the rationale behind the design of the imaginative settlement on the peninsula will be communicated to the audience through a literary piece.
About the event
The event will take place on 22 May at 19:00 at the Valletta Campus, University of Malta (second floor); however, anyone wishing to meet the artist prior to the launch of the exhibition, he will be available at the same venue from 6pm onwards.
