The Department of Communication Therapy (CT) within the Faculty of Health Sciences, of the University of Malta is hosting the prestigious 17th International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association (ICPLA) Conference. This biennial Conference will be held between 23-25 October 2018, at the Corinthia Hotel, St George’s Bay, St Julian’s, Malta.
The conference has attracted 275 participants, most of whom are international scholars hailing from 27 countries, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Hungary, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and United States. Local speech language pathologists and 50 undergraduate and postgraduate Communication Therapy students are also participating.
The scientific programme includes 3 keynote speeches by international scholars reputed in the field whose area of expertise is motor speech disorders, acquired language disorder and developmental language disorder, respectively. There are 8 panels covering distinct themes related to clinical speech and language sciences, phonetics and audiology. Additionally, the programme includes 100 individual oral presentations and 70 scientific posters.
