Live subtitling, also referred to as respeaking, is a captioning technique used mostly to benefit hearing-impaired viewers, among others. It is adopted during live broadcasts and enables uttered speech to be captioned on screen in real time thanks to a professional subtitler/re-speaker who would be working behind the scenes. This technique is adopted by TV networks and channels worldwide (BBC, Al Jazeera, etc.).
