The Department of Geosciences is proud to host Prof. Emile Okal, one of the world’s leading experts in the science of tsunamis.
Emile Okal is Emeritus Professor at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Northwestern University, US. He has had a distinguished and impressive career in which he has given important contributions to several fields of the geosciences, in Europe and the US, but notably in the science of tsunami generation and propagation. He has led several teams on post-tsunami field surveys all around the world, and authored numerous scientific publications.
