Applying digital initiatives to sectors facing stiff competition such as the manufacturing industry as a means to drive transformation, is in fact outlined in the Maltese National Digital Strategy. At a European level, digitization of the manufacturing industry is considered as the driver behind the 4th Industrial revolution, commonly referred to as Industry 4.0.
On the 18th September 2019, the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering will be hosting a Seminar on Industry 4.0 on how industry can exploit these technologies to be more competitive. This seminar will also include a number of foreign speakers who are established experts in this field and will explore themes relevant to Industry 4.0, including Smart Products, Smart Production and how these are driving changes in business operations. Registration opens at 8.30, and the event will be followed by a light lunch.
