Event: CineXjenza: Filfla and Comino
Date: 10 December 2019
Time: 19:00
Place: Spazju Kreattiv Cinema, Valletta
The beauty of Malta and Gozo’s seas is undeniable. However, what we see is the tip of the iceberg.
CineXjenza, in collaboration with student organisation ESA will be screening the Malta Airport Foundations documentaries:
- Comino: A Secret Paradise
- Filfla – An incredible Malta Diving Experience
Stunning footage of the flora and fauna surrounding the Maltese archipelago has been captured in a collaboration between the Malta Airport Foundation, Professor Alan Deidun and Pedja Miletic. The dcumentaries, which combined have already generated around 77,000 views online, portray the beauty of the archipelago. Ecologist Professor Alan Deidun (Department of Geosciences) will be on hand to chat about biodiversity, conservation and the impact of human activity on these beautiful ecosystems. His research covers Malta’s coastal life and marine alien species, and the reasons behind jellyfish outbreaks.
Dr. Sandro Lanfranco (Department of Biology, Univeristy of Malta) and Dr. Stefano Moncada (Institute of European Studies, University of Malta) shall also be contributing to the discussion.
Please note: Snacks and refreshments will be served during the discussion.
CineXjenza is supported by the STEAM project. It is run by the Malta Chamber of Scientists, in collaboration with Spazju Kreattiv and S-Cubed.
