On 9 December at 18:00, the Islands & Small States Institute (ISSI) of the University of Malta will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary.
A seminar will be held at the University’s Msida Campus, under the auspices of Professor Godfrey Baldacchino, Chair of the Board of the ISSI, and Professor Lino Briguglio, the Institute’s Director.
Following the introductory remarks by Professor Alfred J. Vella, Rector of the University, a panel of eminent speakers will be presenting topics that are of relevance to the Institute:
- Professor Godfrey Baldacchino: 'Why small island states succeed economically'
- Professor Roderick Pace: 'The role of small states in the European Union'
- Dr Stefano Moncada: 'Climate change and small island states'
- Dr Kenneth Grech: 'Health policies in the European small states'.
On this occasion, the Institute will also be launching a publication that illustrates its work and contribution to teaching, research and policy during the past three decades. An electronic copy will be made available on the ISSI’s website, shortly after the event.
