The Faculty of Science at UM in collaboration with the Department of Systems of Knowledge at JC,organised a symposium on the international day dedicated to the role of women in science. The aim was to raise awareness of this role among Junior College students, and to encourage young women to pursue their studies in STEM subjects.
The symposium was addressed by Professor Emmanuel Sinagra, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor Carmen Sammut, Pro-Rector. Lecturers and students from the Faculty of Science and Junior College, presented research carried out in their respective areas. The topics varied from microbes to crystal engineering, and how women can actually change the face of physics. Prof. Irene Sciriha, coordinator of the symposium, closed the symposium with words of encouragement for present and future women in science. Throughout the morning, over 300 Junior College students attended the symposium.
