What better use of one’s strength than to use it for someone in need. Running across Malta for 32km, Swimming to Gozo for another 7km, and then running to Ta’ Pinu on the other side of the Gozitan Island is no mean feat. All the hours of training led to the day where the three athletes would be challenged with fatigue, cold waters, jellyfish and soaring temperatures during the run.
All this for raising funds and awareness for the Len and Jacob wellness fund, which will help two young twins obtain the necessary medical help they need.
Lessons learnt: To be courageous doesn’t mean that you do not fear anything, but that you still do something even though you fear it.
Accept help and support. We can go greater distances together than we can alone.
The three athletes organising this challenge were Karl Cortis, Brian Galea (father of the twins) and Nathalie Briffa Farrugia.
