UM collaborates with Blood Donation Centre to mark World Blood Donor Day

To mark World Blood Donor Day, observed on 14 June 2026, the University of Malta's social media team collaborated with Caroline Cassar, Public Relations Officer at the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) , to create a short reel aimed at raising awareness about blood donation and testing public knowledge on the subject.

Caroline visited Campus Hub, where she challenged students with a series of important blood donation questions:

  • Can you donate blood if you have tattoos?
  • How often can men and women donate blood?
  • Do you need to wait for the Blood Donation Centre to contact you before donating?
  • Can you donate blood if you have recently travelled to a country where malaria poses a high risk?

Watch the reel to discover the answers and learn more about how you can help save lives through blood donation.
