The Department of Management has recently run and concluded the October 2015 edition of Hochschule New-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) MBA International Extension Programme. This intensive two-week programme of applied management master classes, seminars and industry visits, is held bi-annually by the Department and rides on the back of ongoing collaboration and a long standing alliance between the Department of Management at the University of Malta and the Department of Business and Economics at HNU.
Over the two-week period, the German MBA participants, were also engaged on an extended strategy live case study involving meetings, analysis and direct interaction with the top management team of a local collaborating organisation. This involved addressing a current strategic challenge and presenting their strategic review, findings and reasoned recommendations to the board and management.
At this edition, MaltaPost plc, Malta’s licensed Universal Service Provider of postal services, was the strategy live case study collaborating partner. The Department of Management takes the opportunity to thank MaltaPost’s top management team for their direct and active involvement during this strategy exercise geared towards creating mutual value and opportunities for critical insight and learning. MaltaPost created a limited edition postal cover including customised stamp to commemorate the collaborative strategy live case study; MaltaPost’s CEO presented this special memento to all the MBA participants.
Other scheduled industry visits also included Methode Electronics, Actavis and Playmobil.
Accompanied by their professors, the profile of this edition’s international cohort of Neu-Ulm MBA participants hailing from Germany included executives employed at international blue chip companies such as Porsche AG, Continental AG, Societe Generale, Bosch, Liebherr, Lidl, Daimler AG, and Brian Healy Architects (Boston), as well as German SME champions of industry, engaged in sectors spanning automotive, aerospace and defence, graphic design, electronics, manufacturing, precision engineering, software, and financial services.
As a conclusion to this edition of the programme, the formal award dinner and certificate presentation were held at Capua Palace, Sliema.
