The Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences (MaKS) is launching the short course entitled Beginners' Course: Character Design.
This 10-session Beginners' Course, offered to the general public, is aimed for all those who are interested in character design related to games and other industries which require illustration work.
This course is part of a three-course series: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.
Learning outcomes
The Beginners Course will start from the very basics of traditional drawing, no stone will be left unturned. This course will start from scratch and every session will take the participants into a journey which will not only sharpen their drawing skills but will also start to broaden their imagination.
Lecture 1: Introduction to drawing shapes and understanding the various kinds of perspectives
Lecture 2: Shading and simple object drawing
Lecture 3: Continuation on object drawing and getting confidence
Lecture 4: Textures
Lecture 5: Introduction to human and animal figure drawing
Lecture 6: Human figure drawing from live or from photo reference
Lecture 7: Continuation on figure drawing from live or from photo reference
Lecture 8: Colours and the various drawing mediums
Lecture 9: Preparing sketches and studies for a character
Lecture 10: Discuss all participants’ finished character designs
