The European Commission's Interpreting Unit, SCIC, has financially sponsored the Department of Translation, Terminology & Interpreting Studies to purchase new audio-video equipment to facilitate online and remote interpretation.
Students studying for the Masters Course in Interpreting Studies will now be able to experience a real working conference interpreting environment and setting.
This innovative equipment (HELGI Collaboration) provides for web and video conferencing like Screen Sharing, Instant Messaging and Whiteboard features. The benefits are rich interaction, an optimal experience and eliminates longer meeting start-up times.
HELGI Collaboration is the perfect solution for any collaborative, video-conferencing-based working environment. HELGI Collaboration makes any operation easy thanks to a Windows 10 launcher meant to work seamlessly with HELGI IFPs (Interactive Flat Panels).
Based on Windows 10, the launcher can be customised by the administrator to show only the applications needed by the end users, such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype, Web browser, Office applications.
It is a safe, user-friendly solution: any user, regardless of the level of proficiency in the use of digital solutions, will be able to start a video-conference, use a digital whiteboard, share contents and ideas with colleagues, both in presence or in remote.
HELGI Collaboration can be provided with the exclusive Helgi Marker, a tool able to transform anything written with dry-erase markers on any regular whiteboard in a digital content, streamed live on the Whiteboard application. Moreover, real-time mirroring supports any kind of device (iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac OS) so that the participants can mirror their devices on the main monitor to easily share contents and contributions.
Available also are cloud-based solutions for meeting organisers to stream multiple languages into any live conference. Attendees can use their own smart devices or laptop computers to participate in the language of their choosing.
