Professor Charmaine Gauci and her team have been nominated for the European Citizens’ Award by Malta’s Members of the European Parliament.
Other than what she has become widely known for in the last few months, that is being an inspiring figure throughout Malta’s navigation through the COVID-19 pandemic, Prof. Gauci is also an Associate Professor at the Public Health Department within the University of Malta’s Faculty of Medicine & Surgery.
She is still receiving praise for her invaluable work throughout these extraordinary times, and this nomination is but a confirmation of her inspirational leadership, a joint press release by the MEPs said.
Miriam Dalli, Roberta Metsola, Alfred Sant, David Casa, Alex Agius Saliba and Josianne Cutajar have all cited her “open and straightforward communication style” as the reason why people were kept informed on a regular basis on anything COVID-19 related.
They have also said, however, that this nomination is a sign of appreciation towards all the medical frontliners who have dedicated themselves to battling this pandemic, resiliently.
Some of Prof. Gauci’s UM colleagues have also recently praised her efforts on Newspoint.
