Rev. Professor Hector Scerri, member of the Department of Fundamental and Dogmatic Theology within the Faculty of Theology, has been re-confirmed for another five years, by Pope Francis, as consultor to the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity of the Holy See.
He will be engaged in matters related to ecumenical dialogue between different Churches and Christian Traditions.
The Council, which was set up after Pope John XXIII’s expressed his wish that the Catholic Church’s involvement in the ecumenical movement should be a concern to all those involved in this team of people, recently celebrated the 60th anniversary from its foundation.
It exercises a double role – it is entrusted with the promotion of an authentic ecumenical spirit, and at the same time, it strengthens the relationships with other Churches and Ecclesial Communities.
Rev. Prof. Hector Scerri is a priest of the Archdiocese of Malta, graduated in theology at the University of Malta and the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. He has authored a large number of articles and publications, most recently the second volume of the collection Cor ad Cor Loquitur, an anthology of Reflections on Faith and the Christian Experience in the Church and Society.
