The University of Malta celebrated its the 250th Anniversary during the 2019-2020 academic year. During this same year, the University was impacted by a global public health emergency that caused unexpected changes in the daily life of all students, academics, administrators and technical staff.
The University of Malta reacted rapidly to successive and fast-moving events by implementing a number of complex changes to enable teaching and assessment to be sustained at a high quality, albeit via different modes and vehicles. A principal aim was to offer the University’s student body as much stability and peace of mind as was possible.
The experiences gained and new skills acquired during the past four months need to be documented and analysed in order to have an evidence-based platform from which to move forward into what is still an indistinct landscape. A multidisciplinary team of University staff developed and implemented the official University of Malta “Surveys of Assessment, Learning and Teaching (SALT)” aimed specifically at its students, academics, administrators and technical staff.
The anonymous surveys are intended to obtain opinions and information about experiences in teaching and assessments over the past four months across the University’s entities. All students, academic, administrative and technical staff were invited to take part in this survey, a link to which was received in the UM email accounts last Monday.
Everyone’s opinion matters and is crucial to help the University build a comprehensive picture that takes into account individual and collective experiences. Such a picture is necessary to be able to take stock and plan ahead in order to improve the University’s students’ learning experiences.
Please do participate in this University-wide exercise by completing the Survey. If you have already done so, the Survey team is indeed grateful.
The SALT Survey Team is made up of Dr Sarah Cuschieri, Ms Jo-Anne Attard, Dr James Cilia, Mr Lionel Attard, Prof. Paul Bartolo and Prof. Joseph Cacciottolo, with support of the Rector, Senate and Registrar’s Office and the Assessments Support Team.
