As part of its weekly outreach visits, the Mobile Dental Unit (MBU) visited Mtarfa Local Council on Monday 19 October.
Located within the town’s civic centre is also the Mtarfa Day Centre, run by Aġenzija Sapport.
Two of the staff members of Aġenzija Sapport visited the Mobile Unit and brought along three of their clients with intellectual disabilities.
A dental screening was carried out for both staff and clients. Advice was shared and referrals for further care were given.
The Mtarfa Day Centre openly expressed their gratitude for having provided its service.
On Monday 26 October, MBU visited Sliema, offering the same service to the residents there.
The service is run by the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the University of Malta. These outreach activities have been going on for the past 5 years and are providing students with community experiences and patients.
The activity also serves as a showcase to the community as to what the Faculty within UM can offer.
