The Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC) at the University of Malta marked the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona Process by engaging in dialogue with the President of Malta, H.E. George Vella about the 1997 Malta Ministerial Euro-Med Conference, a landmark event related to the historic moment.
H.E. Dr Vella had addressed the Conference himself in 1997, saying what was needed for tackling the deep-seated problems of the region was dialogue and common action extended over time.
Addressing MEDAC students, the President said Malta has in fact contributed in the very early years of the Barcelona Process, and helped keep the process alive.
“Today has been a special occasion – where this dialogue has provided us with the unique opportunity to gain insight into this historic moment where Malta served as a host and a leader in these multi-lateral relations.
