The research and academic activities of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of Malta contributed to the recent annual British Pharmacological Society meeting held in Edinburgh in December 2019. This meeting is the British Pharmacological Society's flagship annual meeting and attracts over 1,000 scientists each year from across the world.
Prof. Janet Mifsud, who is a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society, was asked to Chair the session on Education and Skills and to contribute to the evaluation of Poster Presentations.
During this meeting Ms Alessia Carta, Masters graduate, under the supervision of Prof. Anthony Fenech and Dr Vanessa Petroni Magri, presented a poster on the influence of cytokines on the transcriptional regulation of the human CCR4 receptor gene.
Alongside world-class research, this meeting offered excellent networking opportunities for attendees to network and exchange research results and reinforced the University of Malta’s international contribution to this important speciality. Prof. Anthony Fenech, Prof. Roger Ellul-Micallef and Prof. Janet Mifsud had extensive discussions with Prof. Lisa Wallace, Vice President, Academic Development, Education and Training Committee.
