Ask, listen, challenge, understand. There is power in a roundtable.
Prof. Neville Calleja, the Head of Department of Public Health within the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, was invited to do so by presenter of TV programme ‘Roundtable’ by David Foster, former Al Jazeera and Sky News presenter.
The programme is produced by international news channel TRT World TV.
The topic discussed was Herd Immunity: Is it hard to achieve it?, and Prof. Calleja chimed in about Malta’s achievements with its successful vaccination roll-out programme.
The news that Malta has managed to vaccinate 70% of its adult population with at least one shot of COVID-19, revealed by Health Minister, Dr Chris Fearne, on 24 May, has been covered internationally.
With vaccines being administered at a rate of one every five seconds, and with almost half of the Maltese population having been fully vaccinated people, Prof. Calleja told Mr Foster that this could only be achieved thanks to the invaluable contributions of medical and healthcare professionals, who share the belief that vaccination is the most efficient way to battle this pandemic.
