Incorporating cycling, running and walking into your campus itinerary will help reduce the amount of carbon used by cars and buses, whilst being immensely beneficial to your health and wellbeing.
The Active Travel Campaign led by the University’s Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development (ICCSD), is attempting to increase active travel to and from the University of Malta.
After installing Active Travel signage on the UM campus and surrounding localities, interviewing a number of UM staff, academics and students who already travel to campus using these environmentally-friendly methods, and issuing a report urging local authorities to increase safety on the roads surrounding campus, the Institute’s latest endeavour consists of updating the imagery of the campaign on the noticeboards across campus.
So how does one get started if they want to support this campaign?
Maybe you’re interested in substituting driving car with using a bicycle? Or would like to help out with spreading the message?
