We’ve featured Eman Borg once before on Newspoint, when last year we interviewed him about his unique experience as Malta’s Ambassador for Youths in the Commonwealth.
Since then, he’s appeared on a couple of (well, maybe more than that) TV programmes, podcasts and radio shows to share his life with the general public, not because he is one to boast, but because it genuinely is the case that he’s been through such an interesting journey that learning about it might motivate some people to become better versions of themselves.
Since last year, Eman has graduated from the University of Malta with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Policy, and will be shortly start studying for an M.A. in International Sport and Event Management at the University for Applied Sciences in Berlin, Germany.
The achievement we wanted to highlight today, however, in honour of Pride Week, is not one that has been achieved on a personal level, but one that will hopefully help more young people feel comfortable in their own skin.

As one of the founders of LGBTI+ Gozo, Eman was heavily involved in the run-up to and the launch of the community service hub called ‘Qawsalla’, funded by the Gozo Ministry, and which took place in early September 2021.
This launch was years in the making and “marks an important step for progression and acceptance on our island”, he said in a Facebook post.
It attracted the attention of Gozo Minister, Hon. Clint Camilleri, Minister for Equality, Research, Innovation and Post-Covid-19 Strategy, Hon. Owen Bonnici, and several other dignitaries and personalities because LGBTI+’s 6 years of continuous work towards the equal rights for LGBTI+ people is no easy feat.

“And I would do it all over again”, says Eman in a comment to Newspoint. The human rights advocate in him is more dedicated than ever to supporting the LGBTI+ community.
“Pride is a celebration of inclusivity. Malta Pride celebrating its annual pride with the slogan #YouAreIncluded is a testament to the recognition of our intersectional identities, no matter how big or small they are in your life.”
