On Wednesday 23 February 2022, the University of the Third Age (U3A) attended a courtesy meeting with the University of Malta's Rector Prof. Alfred J. Vella and Pro-Rector for Student & Staff Affairs and Outreach Prof. Carmen Sammut during which two U3A members, Mr Victor Mifsud and Dr Doris Cannataci, presented their authored books to them. The meeting was held at the Rectorate, University of Malta, Msida Campus.
Prof. Formosa introduced the two authors as two successful active older persons who continue to offer their time and service to society in different ways. Mr Mifsud authored his book “National and International Youth Work, Workers’ Rights and Older Workers’ Challenges” during the pandemic COVID-19 while Dr Cannataci wrote about her life in the past and
present in her book titled ‘I remember, I remember…. Years Gone By’.

Prof. Marvin Formosa, Rector’s Delegate for the University of the Third Age, and Ms. Simone Ellul, U3A’s Administrator, spoke of the challenges the U3A faced during the pandemic and informed the Rector and Pro-Rector about the ways that the lectures were delivered during this challenging period. They also discussed the challenges that older people have faced, and
still experiencing, during the pandemic. The U3A lecturers were also praised for their commitment and eagerness in delivering their modules to members. Future plans for the U3A were also discussed.
