Dr Mario Pace, Resident Senior Lecturer within the Faculty of Education of the University of Malta, has returned from Sicily where he was invited to give two lectures on his book entitled Marco Largi ovvero Carlo Magri - drammaturgo maltese (1617 – 1693).
Vita e opere with particular reference to the cultural, linguistic and political ties between the two Islands in the 17th Century. The first lecture was held in Piazza Armerina at the Biblioteca Comunale "Alceste e Remigio Roccella" housed at the Old Jesuits' College. The event was conducted by Prof Salvatore Lo Re who together with Dr Mario Pace discussed some of the most important aspects of the very close ties that existed between Malta and Sicily in the 1600s. The event was crowned by the masterful performance of the famous Sicilian actress Federica Amore who recited passages from the book. The event, organised by the Municipal Administration of Piazza Armerina in collaboration with the association "The Islands, also saw the participation of Deputy Mayor Lucia Giunta, Councillor Ettore Messina and Dott.ssa Ivana Legname.
