Prof. Carmel Borg convened a well-attended international hybrid conference on behalf of the International Parenting Programme (IPP).
Held at Valletta Campus, between 26-28 April 2022, the conference, entitled 'Parents Matter. Celebrating Seven Years of Parent-Focused Activism', brought together educators, social workers, community workers, youth workers, psychologists, social pedagogues, professionals as well as students.
Participants discussed issues that ranged from parenting in the context of domestic violence, suicide, and fostering to the intersection of parenthood with social disadvantage, old age, dementia and migration.
The IPP is a consortium of seven universities from Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Malta, Lithuania, and the UK. Over the past seven years, Prof. Carmel Borg has delivered several keynote speeches around Europe on the theme of parenting and social justice. This was the second international conference that he has convened on behalf of the IPP.
