Professor Sandra Buttigieg, Head of the Department of Health Systems Management & Leadership at the University of Malta, has been elected President of the European Health Management Association (EHMA). EHMA is a non-profit membership organisation that focusses on enhancing the capacity and capability of health management to deliver high quality healthcare. Professor Buttigieg has been board member-at-large and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the European Health Management Association for a number of years.
The new Board, elected by EHMA members, was announced at the EHMA 2022 Conference. At this annual conference health managers, researchers, and professionals have a unique occasion to have their voices heard and connect with decision-makers.
This year's Conference - the 27th - was held between 15 and 17 June for the first time in Brussels, Belgium. Entitled ‘From people to systems: leadership for a sustainable future’, the Conference explored challenges and solutions for creating sustainable health systems and ways health managers can lead towards them.
"I am truly honoured to be President of such a dynamic association - which widely represents health care managers and leaders, as well as researchers, professionals and relevant stakeholders in the field", said Prof. Buttigieg. "At EHMA we will strive to continue improving the take up and implementation of effective practices through knowledge sharing, evidence and networking" she continued."
The EHMA Vice President is now Dr Axel Kaehne and Dr Alexandre Lourenço is treasurer.
