The Mediterranean Institute is pleased to announce that a new General Issue of the Journal of Mediterranean Studies (Vol. 30. No. 2) has just been published. The current issue includes an intriguing line-up of contributions, ranging from engagements with queering in the Greek cultural sphere, clandestine baptisms and crypto-Christianity in the Ottoman archipelago, material culture in vernacular medieval Arabic, the writing of Dino Buzzati, micro museums in the Mediterranean, democracy and despotism in the time of Suleiman the Magnificent, and further afield.
Article contributions to this issue are by Diana Manesi, Mohamed Meouak, Marina Fernández Flórez, Alberto Castelli, Üner Daglier and John Vella. The new General Issue also includes two beeok reviews: Nesrin Degirmencioglu’s insightful take on Pallavi Narayan’s book ‘Pamuk’s Istanbul’ as well as Pietro Militello’s careful reading of Dirk Booms’ and Peter John Higgs’ ‘Sicily: Heritage of the World.’
The new issue of the Journal of Mediterranean Studies shall be available shortly via the Project Muse portal for JMS.
