Prof. Lino Bianco, a full-time resident academic at the Department of Architecture and Urban Design at the Faculty for the Built Environment, was nominated Invited Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Pontifical Gregorian University.
A graduate with a BA in philosophy and human studies from the former Institute of Philosophy and Humanistic Studies, Faculty of Theology, a BE&A (Hons) in architecture and civil engineering, Faculty for the Built Environment, an MSc in industrial mineralogy from University of Leicester, an MSc in architectural history from University College London, and a PhD in architecture and politics from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Sofia, Prof. Bianco’s research deals with the interaction between architecture, philosophy and geology. He authored over 300 technical and scientific reports including over 100 peer-reviewed publications in several international journals on themes ranging from history and theory of architecture to philosophy and humanistic studies to geological sciences. He lectured and was examiner at the Department of Geography in the Faculty of Arts and at the Faculty of Laws. At present he lectures in Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Moldova and Romania, and is currently the non-resident ambassador of Malta to Romania and to the Republic of Moldova.
Prof. Bianco is a recipient of number of state decorations relating to his diplomatic and professional assignments – the Order of the Madara Horseman (First Class) was awarded by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria for his significant involvement in the advancement of friendly relations and bilateral cooperation between Malta and Bulgaria (2018), the Cross of Commander Pro Merito Melitensi by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (2019) for his work for the common good of humanity, and the Member of the Order of Merit by the President of Malta for working towards a better environment and planning practice (2021).
