Medical laser therapeutics have gained increasing importance in clinical practice, offering a non-invasive and highly precise approach to treat a wide range of medical conditions. As technology continues to advance, so does our ability to harness the therapeutic potential of lasers, from treating soft tissue disorders, cancers and to pain management and even surgical procedures. Understanding the mechanisms behind laser therapies, their safety, and efficacy through rigorous research is key to unlocking their full potential and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Research in this field being undertaken at the Department of Anatomy at the University of Malta, by Dr Ernest Azzopardi and Dr Christian Zammit will be further enhanced through the availability of a soft tissue plastic surgery operating set donated to the department by Dr Ernest Azzopardi. This contribution will not only benefit such research but is also being made freely available to medical students in their anatomy dissection sessions in order to further their insight into human anatomy and its applications.
