Two recent UM graduates have been selected for the EUIPO traineeship as part of the Pan-European Seal Training Programme, which offers young graduates the opportunity of a year-long paid work experience at the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) as well as the European Patent Office (EPO).
The traineeship consists of professional work experience in a multicultural environment where selected candidates will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of collaborative activities and events. Guidance will also be offered through on-the-job coaching by EUIPO staff, as well as through face-to-face and online training sessions.
Martina Farrugia and Aleksandra Wiencis who will be starting their journey in Alicante Spain this September shared a few words with regard to this exciting opportunity:
"Stepping into the realm of the EUIPO's linguistics department, my choice of this internship is rooted in a desire to bridge my legal background with the dynamic field of intellectual property. Through this endeavour, I anticipate gaining insights that extend beyond textbooks - deciphering the practical interplay between language and law in a global context. As I navigate this unique juncture, I hope to fuse my legal acumen with linguistic intricacies, nurturing a skill set that resonates in the realm of IP law and propels me closer to my professional aspirations."
-Martina Farrugia, Master of Advocacy
“Through the Pan-European Seal Traineeship at the EUIPO I hope to learn more about the functioning of EU agencies, improve my soft skill set, and achieve a proficient level of the Spanish language. I am confident that through this experience I will develop as an individual and the experience itself will help me to better navigate the working world. I am truly thankful for this opportunity and I am looking forward to the start of this new adventure.”
- Aleksandra Wiencis, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Relations with Psychology.
Wishing Martina and Aleksandra the very best of luck!
