An article by Prof. Lino Bianco was published in Revista ARTA. This is the peer-reviewed journal of the Institute of Cultural Heritage, the main research institution in the Republic of Moldova, which organises and conducts investigations in the domains of art studies.
Further to reference to design proposals submitted in response to the call for proposals issued by Heritage Malta, Prof. Bianco draws a parallel between Oliver Friggieri’s demise and that of Mihail Eminescu, the national poet of Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Together with notably international writers including the laureates of the Nobel Prize for literature Czeslaw Milosz and Wole Soyinka, Friggieri was a founding member of the Mihai Eminescu International Academy, Craiova, Romania.
A maquette of a shortlisted proposal for the monument to Friggieri is at the Melitensia collection of the University of Malta Library. It was designed by the team led by Prof. Bianco, which included Chev. Antonio Mifsud, a sculptor versed in human anatomy, Kim Farrugia and Alessandra Bianco.
