Prof. Stavros Assimakopoulos, resident academic at UM's Institute of Linguistics and Language Technology, has been appointed co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pragmatics. Established in 1977, the Journal of Pragmatics is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious and influential journals in the field, with a long history of publishing cutting-edge research on language use in context. Following two successful terms, first as Associate Editor and then as Special Issues Editor for the same journal, in this new role, Prof. Assimakopoulos will play a pivotal role in shaping the journal's future direction, advancing its academic vision, and continuing its tradition of excellence.
This appointment is also a significant recognition of the Institute of Linguistics and Language Technology’s ongoing commitment to excellence in linguistic research. In addition to his new role at the Journal of Pragmatics, Prof. Assimakopoulos also serves as co-Editor of the CADAAD Journal, further enhancing the Institute’s profile in the area of critical discourse studies. His new position strengthens the Institute’s presence in the global academic community and highlights its leading role in advancing the study of language and communication.
