A delegation from Curaçao, led by Sithree van Heydoorn, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, recently visited the University, where they met with a university delegation headed by the Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, and the Pro-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Prof. Inġ. Simon Fabri.
The delegation expressed a particular interest in the Science in the City project and the university's approach to promoting science among younger populations. Both parties also engaged in discussions regarding potential areas for further collaboration, especially considering that Curaçao, as part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, shares strong ties with the Netherlands. Given that most Curaçao residents hold Dutch nationality, they are eligible to benefit from various exchange programmes and funding opportunities available to EU citizens.
Further discussions also centered on best practices in higher education and the prospect of Curaçaoan students enrolling at the University of Malta in specific academic programmes, particularly those related to Ocean Governance and Oceanography.
