March is a month of achievement, joy, and new beginnings at the University of Malta, as we gear up for this year’s postgraduate graduations! After years of dedication, our Master’s and PhD students are about to take centre stage, celebrating their hard-earned success.
The celebrations kick off with a Thanksgiving Mass on 6 March at 18:30 at St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, setting a reflective and festive tone for the days ahead.
Then, the moment everyone has been waiting for–graduation day! The first ceremony will be held on 10 March 2025 at 13:00, with the final ceremony rounding off the celebrations on 21 March 2025 at 16:00. The full schedule of ceremonies is available online for ease of reference.
1,550 Master’s and PhD students, out of whom 934 are females and 616 are males, will walk through the stunning streets of our history- and architecture-rich capital city, Valletta. Among these students, 77 will be conferred with a doctoral degree. 63 will be conferred with a Ph.D., 1 student will be conferred with a Doctor of Music, and 13 will be conferred with a Doctorate in Pharmacy. It’s a moment of pride not just for them, but for their families, friends, and mentors who have supported them every step of the way.
During the ceremony, graduands wear traditional robes that include specific colours representing each Faculty. During each ceremony, a student delivers an oration and students who excel in their respective courses will be robed before receiving the scroll from the Chancellor, Rector and the Dean or Director of the respective Faculty, Institute, Center or School.
For those who would like to follow the proceedings online throughout the graduation period, the University of Malta will be providing a live stream of these events via its social media channels (namely Facebook and LinkedIn) as well as the UM website.
Other pertinent information such as the dress code, acquiring a copy of one’s academic record and permitted photography services, can be accessed online.
The University of Malta would like to extend its sincere congratulations to all students for this remarkable academic milestone.
