When we talk about sustainability, it’s easy to imagine the far-off rainforests or the climate agreements to mitigate the melting glaciers – all of which are valid, and need to be urgently tackled on a global level.
But the truth is that sustainability is closer to home than you think. It begins right where you are – here on campus, in our lecture halls, in your daily routines.
For our University, sustainability is a priority shaping our lives and how we operate.
From embedding sustainable practices into research, to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting social equity, we recognise that creating a more sustainable future starts with the choices we make today—together.
In the above video, UM’s Pro-Rector for Strategic Planning & Sustainability, Prof. Valerie Sollars, proudly introduces the Sustainability Champions Campaign.
Sustainability Champions are members of the University who volunteer to share their views with the rest of the UM community about sustainability, how they try to implement sustainable practices in their life, and what actions we can individually and collectively take to ensure that we are all living and practising sustainability.
