On Saturday, 3 May 2025 we celebrated World Press Freedom Day.

This year’s theme was ‘The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Press Freedom and the Media’.

AI is helping journalists by cracking bigger stories, creating faster, smarter content, and catching sneaky mistakes.

AI is also supercharging Newsrooms by speeding things up, breaking language barriers and turning numbers into stories.

However, AI brings a few plot twists as it can provide misinformation and disinformation, deepfake technology, biased content moderation and surveillance threats.

Above all of this AI raises big questions about making sure journalists are paid fairly and keeping newsrooms alive and thriving.
